How the pass works
Every pass is more than a pretty card — it carries a machine-readable code, just like a real passport. Here's what that is today, and where it's headed.
Machine-readable code
At the bottom of every pass sits a two-line machine-readable zone (MRZ) modelled on the ICAO TD3 standard used in real passports. It packs the pass details into a fixed grid of two 44-character lines, drawn only from A–Z 0–9 < so it stays scannable in print. ICAO-style 7-3-1 check digits let any tooling read a pass — and catch a typo — straight off the page.

Physical pass book with NFC
We're working on a real, printed Furry Pass booklet with an embedded NFC chip. Tap it to a phone and it identifies the holder — instantly confirming the pass is genuine and tied to a real account, with no manual lookup.
- A keepsake booklet that matches your chosen template.
- NFC tap-to-verify — proof of ownership at meets and events.
- The same machine-readable code, printed for offline scanning.
We ID-verify the physical book when it's issued, so its code can carry data the digital draft can't. The first line ends with the holder's real year of birth — event staff can confirm 18+ / 21+ with a single scan, without exposing the full date of birth.
